Gloss is intended to be a drop-in replacement for the existing MythTV frontend. It is written in Python however uses the Clutter OpenGL framework with the intent of producing a visually richer interface than the existing MythTV frontend.
4/7/08: Gloss 0.1 has been released! It is available as a source package in the Downloads section or from my launchpad PPA (https://launchpad.net/~gloss-development/+archive) if you're running debian/ubuntu.
See the following Wiki page for setup instructions: http://code.google.com/p/gloss-mc/wiki/Setup_instructions
If you're having troubles either getting Gloss running, or with things working once it is, try looking in the FAQ: http://code.google.com/p/gloss-mc/wiki/FAQs If you find a problem not in the above FAQ, feel free to leave a bug ticket at http://code.google.com/p/gloss-mc/issues/list

Videos
There have so far been six official screencasts of Gloss showing the general 'flow' and user interface. These are listed below:
- The Gloss 0.1 demo video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhWQvibbf94
- The fifth screencast is a short addition to the video above, showing extras that have been added since that video was made: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obnmWZ-dW6w
- The fourth screencast was the most complete of and can be found on You Tube @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkE3Z5P-6Ak.
Older Videos
- Recently I've also put together a quick video of the updated video interface. Whilst this video shows many buggy elements, I'm trying to get a feel for what UI would work best. The video is at http://noisymime.org/blogimages/gloss_video_demo1.ogg
- To show off the new theme code, I threw together a very quick and dirty theme that copies the look of Apple's FrontRow. Many people really dislike this look, but on the other hand there's a lot of people who like it too, I guess that's the point of themes. Anyway, the video is available at http://noisymime.org/blogimages/gloss_pear_demo.ogg . Just a note on this one, I'm having troubles getting smooth framerates when doing a screencast, this theme actually looks a LOT better when running.
